The Honorable Texas Speaker of The House Dennis Bonnen was affirmed on January 8, 2019. He was elected to the position by his colleagues, Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen have set the unity among the House Chamber through the empowerment of his members to work as one to achieve positive results that will tackle the states pressing problems. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen aims to the productivity and efficient handling in government that will be beneficial to the Texans by setting aside politics in order to find the best solutions that will address the state’s issues. The Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen has been in service at the Texas House of Representatives for 20 years, Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen represents the 25th House district that holds the southern Brazoria County with the Matagorda County. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen was first elected to be the Legislature at the age of 24 before he joined the house in 1997 and he have began his 12th term of office on January 2019.
Prior to being elected as the Speaker of the House, Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen have served the past three legislative sessions as the Speaker Pro Tempore. In his 84th and 85th session, Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen have served as the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee and during the 85th session he became a member of the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen served as Chairman of the Environment Regulation Committee, Sunset Advisory Committee, and the House Special Purpose Districts Committee, a Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee of Oversight of Higher Education Governance, Excellence and Transparency, and a member of the Natural Resource Committee, These are all of the experiences and services he has experienced before being elected as the Honorable Speaker of the House. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen was raised and born on the Gulf Coast and have resided with his wife and family in Lake Jackson, Texas. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen loved his community and that he was pretty active when he was staying at his home in Brazoria County, he served as the honorary chairman of Brazosport College’s “Count on Us” campaign, and the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement and B.I.G Love Cancer Care Services, and an honorary member of the Brazoria and Matagorda County Cavalries. Honorable Speaker Dennis Bonnen even served as an honorary co-chairman of the Leukemia Society, Light the Night Walk, and Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament, while being an active supporter of the Brazoria County Fair, BACH, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, ActionS, Inc., and local Boys and Girls Clubs.
